Occam
Shadow iL Caduto
Jul 30, 2010
Occam awoke from her sleep with a start. Her eyes opened wide as her suddenly awake and alert body took a defensive stance, even though she still lay amongst the furs and comfort of her bed. Her senses were at peak, her mind searching out into the recently darkened night in search of Shadow. She knew in her practical mind that she would not find him, she knew that he had been dismissed back into the nothingness that he was a part of. A frantic spur of panic chilled her, when she remembered the words he had relayed to her once when the subject had come up about if he was called back from the nether. He would have no memory of her or of anything that had taken place before. None the less, she needed him and she would call in the darkness for him to return.
She stepped out into the night, moving in the shadows of the crescent moon quietly with a single purpose. Each step landing with a precise and solid stride as she neared her first destination, in her wake a scattering of potion vials. One last vial crashed to the pavement at her feet, the lights coming into focus ahead as she slowed her pace and came to a halt just outside the gates of her home at Lead and 49th. Looking around Occam surveyed the area, taking each view in slowly to assure that she would not be observed in her task.
Her well formed plan, secure inside her head she stepped from the darkness and walked with her usual air of confidence towards the house, passing the great fountain and the manicured garden filled with the giant crimson blooms of Ixora that perfumed the air. A small narrow stairway led downwards from the side yard . The entrance dark and the steps narrow leading into a doorway that would be unnoticed if one didn't know that it was there. At the bottom a small door stood bolted from the outside, a double lock securing it from any that should not belong there. But, Occam did, for inside rested the vessel that her mate took form in, but which now was empty of all except the shell of what once had been a vampire known as Shadow iL Caduto. A turn of the key and the lock fell open into her awaiting hand, the woman opened the door. The room was dark as she entered, her eyes quickly adjusting she saw the dark haired demon huddled in the corner, his eyes affixed to her in a blank stare.
“Please don't start screeching” she muttered under her breath
Knowing that she needed to move quickly, Occam leaped forward towards him, taking him by the hand she turned her body and held him securely by the waist, her other hand pulling the teleportation scroll from her belt; Horror and 13th, she whispered. The darkness darkened and swirled as the two disappeared and in the blink of an eye reappeared outside of the Gates to the Church of Blood, sitting atop the burm that was known as Loch's Rise.
Around her neck, Occam felt the power that pulsed within the vein that had been given to her, the vein of her mate, torn from his flesh and adorned with a single razor sharp tooth. Pulling it free she held it tight within her hand, finally she took up the arm of the vessel and sliced it deeply with the tooth's edge, the dark red vitae seeping out slowly she brought the vein to her mouth and bit sharply down to release the blood within.
“It was your choice” the words cold as she watched the vessel become aware of what was taking place, his eyes suddenly showed his own presence as he turned to stare at her, his mouth twisted in pain. With one last gesture Occam allowed a single drop of the potent blood to fall onto him.
As the scent rose into the night, the air filled around them with a dank and deathly silence. The taste of him on her tongue joined her own blood and brought the visions of his existence into her minds eye. With a cool gaze she watched as the vessel sank into itself collapsing, decaying as it dissolved into a pile of rot before her.
A clear voice followed, “Return to this place, return to me, Shadow” she called out, the words became a primal chant as she called him by name.
Part 1
He skittered back into a corner frightened as the door opened for the first time in several days. The dim light of the moon fell across him and it was all he could do to not begin shrieking, again. Their was the woman who called herself Liski, that came to him often, tending to the wounds he continually inflicted upon himself and administering some concoction that rendered him docile. He knew of her, for he saw what the creature saw, when it rode his body. He knew she was its mistress, but what connection did she have to him, why did she continue to care for him or was she just preserving the “vessel” her pet rode? Even as the thoughts formed they seemed to immediately splinter within his head and then drift away .
He peeked out with one eye, from under the folds of cloth that he had draped over his head. A brief recognition registered in him; it was the creatures mate. But why? He was so close to something ..some shred of lucidity. But, he felt his heart sink to his stomach, settling there, like a heavy boulder of dread.
She had come to bring it back.
“Please not now” he muttered to unhearing ears as her arm wrapped around him and whisked him away into the night .
They appeared again atop a rise, below lay some crumbling ruins. They felt like they should be familiar to him, but try as he might he couldn't pull any un-fractured memories from his mind. The effort to attempt was more than he could manage and chose to disappear into his own head. A It was only a matter of time before the inevitable would occur.
The sharp bite of the tooth in his skin momentarily brought his consciousness back to the forefront of his mind. Immediately he could feel the terror rise. He brought his eyes upwards, their green jade color nearly blocked out with blackness and fear, to meet hers.
“Please don't do this” he begged . “You have to kill me ..its the only way to stop it now”
“It was your choice “ she whispered coldly to him. Then continued with the ritual of summoning.
“It was my choice and....” * he gritted his teeth, trying to remember something, that was no longer there.” …...and I don't know why I made that choice, but I do know now, it was the wrong one. It doesn't love you ..it doesn't care about anyone or anything, except to kill and consume it feels nothing but hunger. Everyday you keep it close to you , you hold a gun against your head. Please kill me, destroy its vessel, you cant continue to let it roam here.”
His head drooped in defeat as she continued, unhearing. .He hated this part, it was different every time but the result was the same......., his body would be torn apart and re-situated to suit the creature's needs. The drop of blood splashed against him and he felt his body begin to break apart: the green eyes now turned completely black, as the darkness crept in.
